57. So, you're thinking of The Kimberley and Uluru??

Not bad choices at all. Two great areas.

Be aware of the time of year. If you're not used to tropical and extremely humid heat, avoid the Kimberley in the period Nov-Feb (The Wet). I lived in Darwin for six years and always joked that you tell the locals from the tourists by the fact that the locals walked in the sun, the tourists skipped from shade spot to shade spot. It's merciless if you're not used to it. Particularly during the wet. But even in the Dry, it's very hot.

I presume you'll be flying into Darwin. I don't think there are any direct international flights into Kununurra or Alice. Why don't you consider going to see Kakadu? 250 km from Darwin and more than worth the effort.

There's not a great deal to see in Darwin, but Litchfield's worth a visit.

I wouldn't drive a camper from Darwin-Kimberley-Alice Springs. They are all a long way apart. Better to hire one at each destination. Fly between the destinations.

When you get to Uluru, go out to the Olgas. They are magical. And I presume you'll be going to places like King's Canyon.

I hope you go and I wish both of you a fantastic journey.

Edited to add: take PLENTY of water
