19. Well, I did want to tell you

that the majority of my music tastes are the "fault" of a local Liberal radio station, one of the five original Pacifica stations. My journey through their crazy dj talents began in 1977, and I ended up as one of them for a while.

Sure, I don't care for the majority of the popular music of the 60s and 70s, but I'd never take back what I was exposed to back then and since! If I had stuck with the standard (low quality) commercial stations, I'd never have heard Philip Glass' "Einstein on the Beach", P.D.Q. Bach, King Crimson, Be Bop Deluxe, Bill Bruford, Dev-O, Oingo Boingo, negativland, X T C, the genres of ska, acid jazz, fusion, progressive rock, or "art rock". I also never would have heard the brilliant radio theater creations from ZBS such as The Adventures of Jack Flanders, not to mention never hearing Firesign Theater on commercial stations

So, while you may recoil in utter horror at the examples I've playfully given, it all represents a fraction of the kind of musical spectrum I enjoy on a daily basis
