30. Oh, man, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
Tue Jan 17, 2012, 12:50 AM
Jan 2012

My mom got me that book (Scholastic) when I was in elementary school and I saw the movie when it came to my town a little bit after that. I saw it again for the first time in more than 40 years not too long ago, and it really became an emotional experience for me, especially when the gang are driving down the road (on the wrong side, if they were supposed to be in England!) to the beach singing the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang song.

Yes, it was supposed to be England, but they probably thought it would confuse Americans. HopeHoops Jan 2012 #33
I think the closing credits note that some of the scenes were filmed in France Art_from_Ark Jan 2012 #47
That would explain it, but it was clearly intended to have taken place in England. HopeHoops Jan 2012 #50
