My Pop was a lifelong railroad union man. I grew up reading the union magazine. I remember him telling me, before I was even old enough to know what it meant, don't ever cross a picket line; there's nothing lower than a scab.
When I was a kid and my brothers and I would get in a fight (often), he'd make us make up and he'd say now kiss your brother! God I hated that! But he was right.
