describes the pleasure a young boy derives from sticking his foot out from underneath the quilts & covers on a cold winter night, letting his leg chill for a few minutes, then pulling his leg back in under the covers to warm up. I used to do that when I was a kid; I loved the reminder of how nice and toasty-warm it was under the covers, when all was freezing-cold outside...
