Soy, Rice or Almond milks are very good used cold. I can't recall which of those substitutes I tried but I found that it curdled in my coffee (not very appetizing).
It's been Lactaid for me due to my Lactose intolerance and it's just fine in all my cooking, etc.

I put it in my coffee in the morning and sometimes on cereal at night for dessert
