I sat on the couch last night and held my wife as she unloaded her emotions on me last night. It was incredibly difficult.
The most difficult part of our conversation was when she told me that she "is beginning to feel her mortality".
While on the surface we all will meet our mortality eventually, it's difficult to cope with emotionally when you are in your early thirties.
She has a biopsy scheduled next week to determine the full extent of the situation. It could be nothing. If something does show up, the advances in early-stage detection offer fantastic abilities to overcome the disease.
Unfortunately there's little comfort I can offer my wife's anxiety during the waiting period...
Thanks again, everyone. I really appriciated the outlet, compassion and support that I need while providing that outlet for my wife while not adding to her own anxiety with my own.
