In reply to the discussion: Tell us how proud you are of your kid(s) [View all]DebJ
(7,699 posts)31. Great thread! And my hope is every parent will tell their children what they said here.
It took my sisters and I until our 50th decade to realize that Mom always spoke highly of us, but only to OTHER
people. Each of us grew up feeling no matter what, we couldn't earn her approval, not really. One reason it
took that long is because two sisters moved far away right after graduating from school, and our chances to be
together over the years have been rare.
Anyway, I make it a point to tell my children how proud I am of them at least every few months.
It's just something we all need to hear. No matter how old we get.
