block someone. Essentially what happens is that once you block someone, it's as if you (and the blocked person) do not even exist (to each other) on Facebook.

I get quite a few of those strange friend requests too. People who aren't even friends with people I already know. I always figure they're just trying to friend people to get access to personal info. Like my cellphone number is listed, but only people on my friends list can see it. Along with personal photos in my photo albums, etc.
