I moved in with with her after my third year of college. It was a year after my Opa passed away (in 1986). I commuted to and from school and later a job in NYC.
A few years after that, I rented the upstairs apartment of her house with my future first husband. (that was about 1990) We paid rent and helped to make sure she was ok. It was fun. On my days off we would watch One Life to Live.
Former fist husband and I later moved to the hudson valley and she later (around 2000) came to live upstate with my Mom when her ability to care for herself went down hill.
She is 95 years old. I don't know what will happen, but this time, this time seems different.
I am so very lucky to have her in my life. I am so fortunate to be 47 and have an Oma that I could share grown up stuff with.
