(5,477 posts)Originally had the 1.7l engine, but I had a burned exhaust valve on #3 cylinder, so I bought a 1.8l long block.
Most fun car *ever* to drive. With the mid-engine, it had a perfect 50/50 weight distribution. Sitting was pretty much almost straight legs, and about 6" above the ground (I used to look out my window at the other cars' door handles at stoplights). You could make a 90 degree turn without any 'diving' at all - it just sort of flowed around the corners, at speed. Small, light, and maneuverable - these cars *still* beat a lot of modern stuff in various types of racing (involving handling).
Standing next to it, the roof was at the level of my sternum.
It finally rusted out too much to bother with, so I gave it to a guy in Portland on a sort of 'pay it forward' forum on a motorcycle message board.
I took this picture the day before he came up with the trailer to take it away. It was in pretty sad shape by then...
