2. Here is what I am used to hearing - not so much a bellow as a rumble

It's cool how the water vibrates above their body!

Well, when we first bought this farm, we'd hear them down in the swamp. That sound carries - the swamp is at the back of our 60 acres, about a quarter of a mile from the house. After a couple of bad droughts, we stopped hearing them - I know we had some smaller gators travel across our ridge to the next watershed but the big guys may have traveled south down the watershed that ends up in the St. Marks River system.
