Iowa DNR May Ban Booze on State Beaches [View all]

D'oh.

DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) - The state DNR is looking for the public's thoughts on a proposed ban on alcohol on all beaches in state parks and recreation areas. If approved, the ban would be in place year-round.

The proposal calls for banning alcohol on sand or fenced in areas of state beaches, swimming areas and in a 200-foot buffer zone. Any rental facilities within the buffer zone would not be included in the ban if the reservation was made through the DNR.

Several incidents at multiple state beaches that involved alcohol led to the proposal.
