7. Update: they now want public input to reduce alcohol-related incidents at state beaches

Looks like they're changing their tune slightly.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is seeking comments from the public to determine how to reduce the number of alcohol-related incidents at state park beaches.

“In the past several years, we have had a number of concerns voiced to us regarding problems associated with alcohol consumption at multiple state park beaches which threaten the safety of both the public and park personnel,” Todd Coffelt, chief of the Iowa State Parks Bureau, said in a press release issued this afternoon.

A press release posted earlier today said DNR officials were considering banning alcohol at all state park beaches. That release was revised at 4:08 p.m. to say DNR officials are “seeking informal comment on ways to reduce alcohol-related incidents.”

I'm guessing the shit hit the fan after their previous announcement so that's why they changed now.
