(1,681 posts)As Jeff pointed out the Saviors don't produce, raise crops or create anything. They sustain themselves by taking half of what other groups produce. They need others to do the real work for them.
As to killing the leaders, if you do that then it will fall to the Saviors to lead all these various groups themselves. The groups would be quite problematic & openly hostile having to take orders directly from new conquers. It's far easier to convince the leaders of these groups to keep doing what they're doing but give half to the Saviors. Keeping the leaders acts as a buffer between the group & the Saviors.
That's why they only kill one from Rick's group. To set an example, but they need workers.
As for the guns, it might make sense to take the guns. However, in order not to allow hurt feelings to fester, they might let them keep a few weapons but not enough to stage a revolt against the new overseers. Remember, Maggie had the group hide a bunch of weapons back at Alexandria in case of another Wolf attack? This will come back to bite the Saviors later.
As for who died?
- Daryl is immensely popular and sells a metric ton of merchandise for AMC. He also has a new AMC show coming out just for him. He's cash-money $afe.
- Carl & Rick are safe from Negan's comment before the killing.
- Maggie had a big scene where she got her hair-cut to look just like her comic book counter-part. That's a lot of specific build-up just to kill her? Naaah, she is safe.
- Eugene hasn't even started cranking out bullets or done the other things that come after the war. He am smart & safe.
- Michone? See above for Daryl. She's practically immortal in TWD.
- Abraham, Glenn, Aaron, Rosita have all been killed in the comics & are therefore wildcards here.
- Sasha is not in the comics. Negan likes girls so I don't see him having Lucille kiss her.
