(25,274 posts)were on Top of the Pops about 20 times in the late 70s and 80s. I don't know how you could have missed that if you were living there. I guess you weren't into punk music. (she was the first female to front a punk band) She was known for her punk style and attitude and has worn a swastika (which she got beat up for) and Star of David (not together). Punks did stuff like that to be outrageous - to be rebellious. In their beginning they did a 20 minute version of The Lord's Prayer. They formed shortly after the Sex Pistols. It's a genre of music not everyone cares for. Punk was very popular in Britain - not so much in the USA.
Anyway, there's tons of information if you wanted to find out. Wikipedia..... they have influenced many bands. I have seen them in concert half a dozen or so times - so I am a bit biased.
