but the film is explicitly part of the larger MCU that doesn't play by those rules or the Guardians' cafeteria physics.

Joke-vehicle or not, the film and characters should still adhere to the established physics of the universe, and it's lazy storytelling to say "it's just escapism." Sure it's escapism, but it's not the coyote & roadrunner.

If Hawkeye picked up a tank and threw it, people would rightly say "Wait, he can't do that!" even if it were funny.
