In my mind, he's approaching the rarified air of musicians we routinely describe as Legends. That plateau where artists such as Stevie Wonder, The Beatles, Prince and Bob Dylan live.

For the last 2 decades, in multiple genres, with dozens of different musicians he's put out true quality music. Startling, original music.

I have a weakness for traditional mountain music, and this is one of the best versions of this classic I know of.

All the way on the other side of everything Wayfaring Stranger represents is this song. But it seems just as genuine and effortless.

That Black Bat Licorice is a gumbo of every modern music trope, it should feel phony and contrived - but sounds cohesive and original instead.
