20. It's been a touch and go spring...

We keep bouncing back and forth between a few days of summer-like weather then a few days of wintery weather. I have long wanted to plant sweet onions and have never seen starts for them until last April. They were selling fresh Walla-Walla plants at the grocery I go to. So of course I bought two bunches. I quickly realized they needed to be outside in dirt right away so I set them out in a raised bed that I can cover. They have spent more time until covers than not since I put them in there. It's snowed at least three times since the planting. They are established enough to where I only cover them when it gets below +38F. So they will go back under the covers for a few days. The bulbs up against the house have survived everything but the deer and rabbits. Everything here has to be tough, it is Montana after all.
