Ansel Adams "The negative is the equivalent of the composer's score, and the print the performance." [View all]

With that in mind, I opened one of my raw files and took it into the digital darkroom. I had already created an interpretation years earlier. After I was finished working on the raw file this morning, I opened the first print file to compare how they differed.

Just a side note: When I took the original I had a softening filter on the camera.

Today's print

The print from 10 years ago

On edit: This is the original file. It has been adjusted in raw.

After seeing what I did this morning I was amazed. Critiquing the two, I was not happy with the dodging and burning on the first print. Blocked shadows on the right and blown out highlights. I also enjoy the increased contrast in the today's attempt. The shadows on the right side of the house just pop and the detail on the doors is much better.
