8. California's "safety net" is stretched thin

And more and more homeless people keep coming here every year to stretch it thinner. It sounds like this guy was choosing between being homeless in Alabama (since he couldn't keep up his house payments) or homeless in California.

Frankly, it annoys me to read about someone who came here to be homeless. I can't afford to own property in California, where I'm licensed to work. When I retire it'll definitely be to somewhere much cheaper, and the political climate will be fairly far down on my list of concerns.
