Massachusetts has a long tradition of Republican Governors, including when Republicans were more liberal than Democrats. However, in recent years, our overwhelmingly Democratic legislature can override any veto it wishes, so we don't feel your pain over Republican Governors as much. Romney even appointed a Democrat to our version of the Supreme Court.
