4. Reasonable people are outnumbered in Michigan

There are far too many of the sincerely Evangelical persuasion here, who believe in a Higher Power who is always on their side, the best of all possible worlds, and their family advantage, and all sorts of things that don't exist for any length of time under stress...or a power shift.

Because they weren't living in the cities or working in the auto industry, the Fundies are doing fine. Everyone else can go to hell, as pre-ordained by their compassionate God.

Or move to another state, which those who could, did try to do. It worked in the 60's, 70's, 80's, but it doesn't work any more. Trouble is, the other states aren't doing any better now. There is no escaping this dreadful economy anywhere in the West. Maybe nowhere on the planet.

I suspect he numbers of Democrats and Independents in Michigan is insufficient to effect change, although I cannot find any numbers on that. Putting the governor in jail for lead poisoning all the people of Flint wouldn't even change their stone hard hearts.
