The Burgh is one of the last strongholds of unions and historically Democrat. Peduto was only "especially beatable" by other Democrats; of them, only Wagner had any real chance, so since the primary he's been acknowledged as the next mayor by all but those in the deepest denial.

Josh Wander actually has been in Israel for some time. http://triblive.com/politics/politicalheadlines/4761985-74/wander-pittsburgh-campaign#axzz2jKoKDT5L

What's wrong with the Republican party is really too big a question, ha. I figure it's hard to get anyone good to spend all the money and go through all the stress when they have slim-to-no chance of winning. Don't run me out of DU, but I thought De Santis was kind of an OK guy for a Republican. Not a wingnut teabagger, more focused on fiscal problems.

Did you move here recently? I thought you were from the State College area. If so, welcome to Pittsburgh.
