5. Republican judge or not, she was convicted by a jury . . .

From the NY Times article about her resignation:

Over a weeklong trial in a stately courtroom here, Ms. Kane was accused of concocting a scheme to get back at another prosecutor, Frank Fina, who she believed was behind an unfavorable news article about her office dropping an investigation into Democratic lawmakers in Philadelphia. Soon after, prosecutors said, Ms. Kane orchestrated the leak of secret grand jury information about a 2009 investigation into the finances of an N.A.A.C.P. leader that Mr. Fina chose not to pursue.


Sorry, but it is inappropriate and unseemly to defend this conduct, regardless of who the targets were. Her initial motives may have been good, but she allowed her own zealousness for her cause to cloud her judgment.
