Yes it should have been locked up in a safe. Mine are. If the gun was stolen, the gun owner must report the theft. I would call the police first and then my insurance company. There are laws for carrying a handgun under age. I hope the victim's family sues the shooter.

I think gun owners should be responsible. I take precautions to secure my guns. Still, you cannot stop a determined thief. Harvey ruined several homes. Thieves could have raided in and taken guns, tools, and/or valuables. Here the few cases of looting were dealt with by law enforcement.

I have insurance on my weapons. I do not understand the insurance you hope for - insurance I buy to protect against a third party doing wrong with a gun I own. State Farm doesn't sell coverage for My cars for damages caused by a car thief. If this insurance is mandated, I will buy it because I am responsible. I am also sure the NRA will sell it and make money.

I will not presume to agrue whether God listens. I think he does.
