I was the 434th person to vote. I mentioned to the election worker that 'wow, a lot more than usual have voted' and he said, yes, it has been very steady throughout the morning. In my experience from past years, less than 100 people would have voted by this time at this location. SO -- turnout so far is quite good.
Another thing I noticed was that the Dems had an elaborate table with leaflets and 3 workers (the usual setup would be one person handing out the paper with the Dem names on it). One of the races had the R candidate running unopposed, and the Dem representative told me they were asking every Dem to write in the Dem candidate's name she had written on her handout. I did, of course.
There were twice as many cars driving in and out as is usually seen in an off-year election.
The bad news is that it is supposed to start raining in an hour or so. I have no idea what that will do to turnout. I hope people are pissed off enough to just bring an umbrella . . .
