1. I went down to see my niece in Portland today. On the way I realized this was 4th of July weekend

But I went down about 10am which is a low traffic period. Even at that time things were getting backed up. I came home about noon and decided I’d stay put and avoid any freeway driving. When I worked in Portland I used to take a couple hours of annual leave on days like this so I could get out of town but even then things were bad. I do remember the last recession traffic dropped off. One of the few benefits of recession. Anyway, if Portland is bad I’d assume all of I5 will be bad today.
