I just checked out Weather Underground and it doesn't look good for Xmas. An atmospheric river will bring several inches in about 2 days. San Diego has had a dry Summer and Autumn so we really need the rain but this much over a short period will be disastrous. Much will be run-off since the soil is baked hard and dry at this point. A slow steady rain would allow for better absorption.
