There is nothing wrong with having multiple disc drives.

In a situation where you would like to, say copy a dvd, you could put the blank dvd into one drive and the dvd you would like to copy in the other. This would speed up your copying time since the computer doesn't need to copy the data to its hard drive first.

Many times, different disc drives will read different discs better or worse, so if you run into a situation where you have a damaged disc that one drive cannot read, it's possible the other will be able.
