19. Let's face it, Sanders has always been more interested in beating the Democrats

Than the Republicans. After all, he's never actually had to fight the Republicans, not really, not in his elections. Any republicans they have in a state that elects Sanders with such huge margins are irrelevant. So he legged it out of New York, because the fight against real opposition was too difficult, and instead he went to Vermont and started his 40-year long crusade against the Democrats. He is the original purity tester. He'd rather let the village burn to save it, than let someone save some of the houses and use their energy to build more houses.
