I lived in Wichita for 18 years in the 80's and 90's. I was very politically active in those days. Sedgwick county (Wichita) had one helluva great Democratic party organization -- they probably still do. We had a permanently staffed headquarters in a county of about 300K with a salaried Executive Director. I served as party treasurer for a term. It was a helluva lot of fun, even when we were up against it.

By in the 90's the state GOP had changed drastically into what one can only describe as utter and flagrant theocratic madness. It was very weird to see the county GOP monthly newsletter speak more of Jesus than their candidates.

But the Dems there are pretty damned fierce and liberal. They may be trodden down these days, but they are tenacious. I kinda knew that Bernie would take the state by a rather large margin and across all districts. Sadly, my three best Democratic friends there have passed on. However, apparently the party goes on there.

I thought the insight might be informative.

My best to you all. May the best candidate win.
