Escalation of blockade seeks social outburst in Cuba, president says [View all]

Havana, Oct 8 (Prensa Latina) President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Thursday denounced the escalation of measures by the United States against Cuba to propitiate a social outburst with electoral ends.

Monetary ordering will guarantee fewer obstacles in Cuba's economy
According to the president, the US Government has stepped up its hostility against the Caribbean island in order to satisfy Florida-based anti-Cuba sectors prior to the upcoming elections in November.

With that goal in mind, intellectuals, artists and leaders of the Revolution have been attacked at debates on issues such as racism, the recognition of the LGBTI community or women's rights.

'This campaign aims to demonstrate administrative incapacity, our country's achievements and progress are hidden, the main sources of revenue are attacked and denigrated to strangle them: health care, tourism, remittances, among others,' the president said on local television.
