so they have to either redo the software like Microschlock does or come out with new tchotchkes that use it, like Apple has been doing.

The problem with the watch is that it's for kids. Nobody middle aged and older can see the damned thing in order to use it well. Even kids would rather have something just a little larger, a cell phone screen doing nicely for most of them.
