But there have been many books and papers written over many decades to try and push politicians to do something.

And nothing was done.

We don't "still have the ability" to control this.

It's all wishful thinking now.

I recommend everyone read The Uninhabitable Earth by David Wallace-Wells and The End of Ice: Bearing Witness and Finding Meaning in the Path of Climate Disruption by Dahr Jamail.

Scientists, some are fucking old scientists will illuminate the situation for you.
