(10,745 posts)I can see cities like Miami and Houston possibly being underwater, global civilization significantly shrinking(which may be inevitable at this point, sadly), and possibly even a 'Big Chill' following the period of intense warming, but.......300 mph hurricanes each covering much of the planet? Humanity dwindling down to Toba-era levels or going extinct(without a Chixulub-type event, or multiple Yellowstones going off, or something equally Biblically catastrophic, and even new hominid species?
The latter things I mentioned, while they might make for a decent Hollywood flick, are, to use a term coined by a member of the alternate history writers' community, in "Alien Space Bat" territory, without a question. Couldn't really happen, would require alien, divine, etc. intervention, end of story.
