But verbally it can take some time. My daughters partner came out a few months ago as trans and is doing the female to male medical process. I still slip up and call him she or her occasionally or call him by the name I started out knowing him by. I catch myself pretty quickly now and apologize, but it does take some time to retrain something that was habit.
