Like all groups, GLBTQ have a few individuals who are positioned (in most cases: sufficiently rich) not to be touched by the bigotry directed at their group as a whole. See also: Carson, Ben. Or: Fiorina, Carly.
Whatever restrictions are passed on GLBTQ folks, Reisner and co will not be affected by them. Money and connection would see to that. See also: Hastert, Dennis, gets away with practically everything.
Their main aim is to stay that rich, so that the bigotry they have only heard about will never touch them. Enter the short-term perspectives of fiscal conservatism (tax cuts for the rich). Enter the need for powerful friends like thge sanctimonious Texas senator.
It is quite possible that Mr. Reisner did not see his donation as a "real" donation. Those 2,700 Dollars were just a small fee for getting to hang out with Cruz. Compare it to me giving you two dollars to put in the meter while you have dinner at my place. A "real" donation would have been one of those anomymous five-figure contributions to a superPAC.
