6. Get a new doctor. She is really out of line.

Statins aren't for "pre-hypertension" and they have serious potential side effects, particularly at high doses.

I refused them after they were prescribed for legitimate reasons (cholesterol and lipid profile). I changed my diet, quit smoking and increased my activity. When I went back, I didn't even fit the criteria for them anymore.

If you can't get a new doctor, find out who her supervisor is or contact the state licensing board.

She is flat out wrong.
