At the beginning he seemed so relieved to have been born in the UK instead of the US it sort of corroborated the "snob" label that I've seen applied to him.

I have a friend who was born in England and then moved here when she was 10 and still thinks she's a bit better than most of us Americans (even though she's lived here almost 50 years!) so maybe I have a little bit of reverse-snob and/or hypersensitivity coloring my perception. I will give him another chance, keeping an open mind.
