4. I remember Popeye's from living in DC in the 70s

and yes, they were great, beating greasy KFC stuff to a bland pulp. I didn't want to get to be the size of a house so I didn't eat it often, but when I did, Popeye's got my hard earned money.

In fact, I had no idea how KFC managed to stay in business there, just like I have no idea how Taco Bell stays in business here in NM when there are hole in the wall places selling the real thing, cheaper. But I digress.

I hope Popeye's gets enough increased business from this flapdoodle to expand into other parts of the country. I do miss them. There's a local fried chicken/BBQ takeout joint that does the crust right but falls flat on the seasoning. And I can do my own sweet tea, thanks, even my NYC mother finally learned how to do that one.

Really good chicken is tough to find, though. If you're anywhere near a Popeye's, that's where to find it. It's just the extra biscuit and coleslaw in the box that they're True Blue.
