and I can tell you that every state has a state-wide beekeeping association. Its website will probably list all of the local beekeeping groups within that state, and by contacting the closest local organization you can find a local beekeeper to supply your honey. This way, you can choose to support someone who takes good care of his or her bees. As far as I know, beekeepers in all states must have a license, but that alone is no indication of how the bees are managed by a particular individual so get to know the beekeeper and ask questions.
