(14,524 posts)... with all due respect, I don't see your response as productive. I'm not sure where you got your information, but some of it just plain isn't so. Yes, 4 weeks is somewhat younger than ideal, but not as traumatic as you might think. From my research, the consensus that is most common for the "ideal" age to separate pups from litters is at 7 weeks. Some say sooner, some say later. But what's really important is what happens in their new environment. With proper veterinary care, love and socializing interaction there is no reason in the world to think a pup doesn't "at least has good potential for good health." Maybe you didn't your reply to be quite so over the top, but if I had little to no knowledge of pups, it would have frightened me and that isn't helpful to anyone.
