Consider the lurkers who greatly outnumber the posters. We are like debaters before an audience. When we use logic and reason, while the other side has only emotion and insults, then we will tend to win to our side some of the lurkers. It is the audience that matters. I know that I will never convince the extreme anti-gun people here, but at the same time I know that I am winning some of the audience to my side. By not engaging in intelligent debate they are conceding some of the audience to me, and I call that a win.
