White died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, according to police.

“Our hearts do go out to the families of the deceased,” Livonia Mayor Jack Kirksey said, calling the situation a “great tragedy.”

The investigation is “still a work in progress,” said Kirksey, who was briefed by the city’s police chief.

Kirksey said the killing appears to have started about 7:30 a.m. when the alleged killer came to the home.
