93. I have a Cornell West story I probably shouldn't share.

But here goes. Once at an airport as I was walking to the baggage check I saw a limo driver holding a sign saying "Dr. Cornell West." I smiled at the driver and said you are going to have an interesting ride. The driver didn't even know he was a celebrity. About 5 minutes later as I was picking up my bag I saw Cornell West himself talking to someone at the shuttle bus kiosk. Though I had my suitcase I decided to let him know that his limo driver was waiting somewhere else. I walked up to the kiosk and patiently waited for him to finish his conversation with the person at the kiosk and then as he was done I said, "Excuse me Dr. West" and he glared at me and quickly walked away. I guess he thought I was going to ask for an autograph or something. Later I saw him at a bus stop trying to figure out where to catch a shuttle to his hotel. I just let him be and kept going. But how I understand what happened. If he doesn't ever check his phone then the people who sent the limo were probably trying to call him but he wouldn't answer.
