In reply to the discussion: Hilarious, "White People Whitesplain Whitesplaining" [View all]JustAnotherGen
(37,990 posts)7. This was alerted to Group Hosts For Statement of Purpose
I'm going to give the person who alerted this a chance -
-- Reason: This discussion thread violates the Statement of Purpose for this forum.
-- Alerter's comments: Blatantly racist. ( In the guise of *crtiquing* racism It attributes foolish and objectionable attitudes to an entire race of people. (We lost yet another state yesterday; Kentucky. Celebrating reverse racism here is not just wrong; it's STUUUUUUPID.)

Watch the video.
Then explain to me and the hosts on this thread WHY Francesca (she does quite a few of these) is being racist.
I suspect the alerter -
Is not a black woman. Out of the gate - this video starts with the comedian and her FRIEND discussing the time "someone touched her hair" and her friend didn't allow her to speak up for herself as to why that is inappropriate.
She tries to tell her friend why that is wrong and is cut off by another friend.
Then another friend cuts her off when she tries to speak up.
Then the white delivery guy speaks over her three friends, slaps her on the back, and explains he grew up in a diverse, urban area so he gets the struggle.
I stopped note taking there - because I've seen this before.
Dear Alerter - Why this isn't RACIST to explain our experiences.
My person - well - I'm not an animal in a petting zoo.
Neither is the comedian.
This is a common occurrence for black women.
WHY is it racist to laugh at the behavior and the reactions of white people in America to the ignorant behavior some - SOME - white people engage in?
NEXT - Have you contacted MTV and requested that they fire her? Have you started a boycott of their advertisers? Have you reached out to her on social media?
I'm inclined to invite her to DU to challenge your alert. If Thom Hartmann is allowed - why shouldn't she be allowed to be here?

I found it strange that you Americans get upset when your friend or friends "Back you up".

Why did the lady take offense (at the start of the film) when her friend came to her defense?

Oh..I DO respect that point of view. Don't take my questions as not wanting to understand.

I suppose my understanding or misunderstanding of the first scene is this: The lady was empathetic..

Naw...just different. I'll "get it" one day. My Dad was a anthropologist. I learned early on...

We forget what you have so plainly but succinctly point out, we are all the same.
