Marvel has it's fans - a much wider fan base than DC but not nearly as deep.

For DC fans, we see that universe as sacred and the heroes there as demi-gods.

We don't want (our interpretation of) each story to be tinkered with unless we give our expressed permission.

I'm a bit more open minded, myself. When Zach Snyder floated the "kara Zor-el as mother of all Amazons" trial balloon, effectively giving Wonder Woman a distant Kryptonian heritage, DC fan lost their fucking minds! In fact, though, early Kryptonians on earth is the perfect back story for ancient myths about Gods and Goddesses.

Superman killed someone who was promising to kill millions of people? Yikes! Time out! Not cool! (even though DC's prohibition against their heroes killing was put in place to appease German-American psychiatrist Fredric Wertham who warned that comic books were a negative form of popular literature and a serious cause of juvenile delinquency.

I could go on but DC fans are like Star Trek fans. We believe we own stock in the company and should have a say. Marvel fans are like Star Wars fans. They complain, but eagerly lap up anything they get regardless.
