A lot of Marvel characters are misfits, misunderstood and just plain unlucky. DC's heroes are too perfect, too "godly" and seen as way more goody two-shoes compared to Marvels misfits.

Apparently DC got the memo to make their heroes "unhappy" from here on out. Batman has always had serious "parenting issues" so he's good to go. I'm sure killing his son was a total DC corporate dick move.
