1. I do believe that one potential climate catastrophe

waiting to happen is that the melting ice sheets in the North Atlantic could shut down the Gulf Stream, which keeps Europe much warmer than it otherwise would be. I'm pretty sure that it's shut down in the past, and of course didn't exist at all some time far enough in the past.

And here's the thing everyone needs to understand: in the long run (probably even in the short run) it doesn't really matter to what extent the climate change has been brought about by humans. The fact is, the climate is changing and we know why. Human action, but again, in a way that's irrelevant. A whole lot of things are going to change a lot, and rising oceans are just the tip of the iceberg, to refer back to the melting ice.
